Mailboxes are assigned at the beginning of the school year each August. New students and transfers for the second semester receive their mailbox assignments in January. Mailbox numbers and combinations can  be found by following these steps:

1. Login to MyEMU
2. Choose Directory from the menu (on a mobile device, scroll down on the menu to see all options)
3. Click the My Personal Information button/tab
4. Scroll down to find your mailbox number and combination information

Please stop by our window if you need assistance opening your box for the first time.

Please do not use nicknames or a parent's name or send mail to your box with anyone else's name. Please make sure your surname is included on your package.

The Mail Room (Room 106) is located on the first floor of the Campus Center. Student letter mail is placed in student mailboxes, which are accessible even when the Mail Room is closed. Notifications are not sent for letter mail. Students are responsible for periodically checking their mailboxes for letters. 

Packages must be picked up from the service window. The service window is open Monday through Friday 9am-12pm and 1pm-5pm. 

The Amazon locker located at the main entrance of University Commons is accessible 24/7. We encourage you to consider selecting the Amazon locker as your delivery method at checkout rather than providing your direct campus address for a smoother delivery process.

Amazon will give you the option to select the locker as your delivery location at checkout. That is the only way to get your item delivered to the lockers. Once you’ve selected this delivery method, Amazon will send you instructions for how to pick up your package. 

Locker delivery is not available for every order. 

Using the University Commons address will not send your package to the locker. Doing so may result in misdelivery, or your package may be returned to Amazon.

All unclaimed mail for students residing on campus will be returned to sender 30 days after they have been received. A reminder email will be sent roughly 2 weeks after the initial notification. Students will receive a final warning email when the 30 day mark is approaching.

Sometimes there is a delay between when a package is marked as delivered and when it is actually delivered to EMU and is ready to be picked up on campus. All external carriers (FedEx, UPS, USPS etc) deliver directly to the Mail Room. Once they arrive, mail and packages need to be sorted and scanned into our system. Rest assured, once your package is ready for pick up, the Mail Room will notify you. We appreciate it if you wait to pick up a package until you receive the ‘ready for pick up’ notification from the Mail Room. 

Yes, you may authorize a friend or colleague to pick up your letter mail or packages by emailing mailroom@emu.edu and copying that individual on the email.

The Mail Room offers a full array of mailing supplies including bubble mailers, boxes, packaging tape and bubble wrap. Most shipping supplies are free, with the exception of stamps and some envelopes. Carrier specific supplies (USPS flat rate boxes/envelopes etc.) are also available. 

Yes, the Mail Room can ship internationally with FedEx, UPS, DHL and USPS. USPS is the least expensive but may not be as reliable depending on the destination. Our staff at the service window can assist you with your specific needs and help you choose the best carrier.

Most international packages will require a customs form. Please be prepared to provide a list of the contents you are shipping.

The Mail Room accepts cash, check or credit cards. We do not accept charges to student accounts as payment.

Mail is not forwarded. The student should let all correspondents know of a change of address. Packages are not held for students on intercultural unless the Mail Room is informed of their temporary location change. All unclaimed packages for students will be returned to sender 30 days after they have been received. A reminder email will be sent after the initial notification email alerting the student to their package's arrival. Students will receive a final warning when the 30 day mark is approaching.

The Mail Room will remain open as long as campus is open. Incoming mail and packages will be processed as usual. We hold packages and mail over break for students that live on campus and have a mailbox here. If mail or packages arrive for you during break, they will be here when you return. If you need to come in for services, please call ahead to check our hours. 

All students should pick up mail from their mailboxes and check for any packages before leaving campus before summer break. Unclaimed mail and packages will be returned to the sender.

Mail for students is not held over the summer (May - July.) If a forwarding address is provided, letter mail and USPS packages will be forwarded from May to the last week in July. In August, the mail room will begin holding mail and packages for the fall semester for all incoming and returning students.

Students staying on campus for the summer should inform the Mail Room if they intend to continue using their mailbox. Students may add their name to the sign up sheet at the mail room window, or email the mail room supervisor at mailroom@emu.edu

A temporary summer address they can update their address by following these instructions:  

1. Login into myEMU
2. Go to the Directory (scroll down on the hamburger menu)
3. Choose Mail Room Summer Address from the left menu bar
4. Follow the prompts to update your temporary address

For final paychecks: If a student expects to receive a final paycheck (for a student employee position) through campus mail: Please provide Human Resources with a current address for the check to be mailed to or inform the mail room if you plan to pick the check from your mailbox after the semester ends.

Students are encouraged to check for packages/letter mail before they move off campus.

Packages: All mail and packages for students no longer residing on campus will be returned to sender immediately. All unclaimed mail and packages for students residing on campus will be returned to sender 30 days after they have been received, however, students will receive a final notification when the 30 day mark is approaching.

Letter Mail: When we are notified students no longer have on-campus housing, their mailbox is closed. If you have not provided us with a forwarding address, any mail remaining in your box will be returned to the sender. If a forwarding address has been provided, the Mail Room will forward your mail for 3 months. Please email your forwarding address to mailroom@emu.edu or stop by the Mail Room to provide your new address.

We strongly encourage students to notify friends, family, and important contacts that you have a pending address change. Please also remember to update default address profiles for online merchants.
