The Faith of a Peacebuilder – Leymah Gbowee

Leymah Gbowee, a graduate of the MA in Conflict Studies program at EMU, speaks on how here Christian faith informs her work of peacebuilding – such as leading a group of women in a protest against the civil war in Liberia.

Leymah Gbowee has been working extensively in the field of conflict transformation and peacebuilding for over 12 years. She played a significant role in the Liberian peace process by leading the Liberian Women Mass Action Campaign from 2003-2005. She also worked as the Coordinator of the Liberian Women in Peacebuilding Network, which is part of the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding/WANEP. She graduated from the EMU Center for Justice and Peacebuilding (CJP) in 2007. Since returning to Africa, she has won numerous awards, including most recently the Gruber Prize.
