草莓社区 will host three virtual Suter Science Seminars for the 2020 fall semester. Virginia’s director of public health nursing, a principal investigator from the National Institute of Mental Health, and a pharmacology professor from the University of Virginia will address the 草莓社区 community this fall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sessions are free to the public, and made possible by the sponsorship of the Daniel B. Suter Endowment in Biology and the co-sponsorship of supporting programs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event will be livestreamed at https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EasternMennonite\/live\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Zoom webinar links, which allow for access to ask questions to the speaker, will be available to the campus community on the EMU Zoom calendar at\u00a0https:\/\/my.emu.edu\/ICS\/Calendar\/<\/a>. (Log into MyEMU to access this calendar.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2013 Wednesday, Sept. 23<\/strong>, 4:15 p.m., “Leading public health nurses during a pandemic” with Jeannine Uzel MSN ’18, director of public health nursing at the Virginia Department of Health.* <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2013 Wednesday, Oct. 14<\/strong>, 4:15 p.m., \u201cGenetics of Mental Illness: Unique Insights from Studies of Amish and Mennonite Communities” with Dr. Francis J. McMahon, chief of the Human Genetics Branch of the National Institute of Mental Health\u2019s intramural research program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2013 Wednesday, Nov. 11<\/strong>, 4:15 p.m., \u201cNuclear lamina and fatty liver disease” with Irina Bochkis, PhD, professor of pharmacology at the University of Virginia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Named in honor of long-time EMU biology professor, Daniel B. Suter<\/strong> (1920-2006), the Endowment in Biology was established in 1986 through the generous donations of alumni and friends and currently consists of over $1 million of invested funds.
