It&#8217;s been viewed more than 20,200 times on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EasternMennonite\">Facebook<\/a>, more than 200 times on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/EasternMennoniteUniv\">Youtube<\/a>, and 470 times on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/easternmennoniteu\/\">Instagram<\/a> with hundreds of &#8220;likes&#8221; and shares. On EMU&#8217;s Twitter account <a href=\"http:\/\/@EMU_News\">@EMU News<\/a>, the video has 1,431 impressions, 393 media views and 95 replies, mentions, retweets and likes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.emu.edu\/personnel\/people\/show\/ajs2257\">Andrew Strack<\/a>, EMU\u2019s photography and video manager, says this is an all-time record for an EMU-produced video.<\/p>\n<p>The message of welcome and reassurance was sent more formally on Monday, Feb. 6, in a <a href=\"http:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/2017\/01\/president-provost-address-executive-order-immigration\/\">statement<\/a> by President Susan Schultz Huxman and Provost Fred Kniss.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"848\" height=\"477\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BY03ZX1L-Q0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>But the video has been especially powerful \u2014 and popular.<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cObviously the message is important to people right now,\u201d said Strack, who produced the short with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emu.edu\/personnel\/people\/show\/jcs974\">Joaquin Sosa<\/a>. \u201cOffering a genuine welcome to everyone who comes to our campus is a big part of what EMU is all about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This observation does not come lightly: In his role, Strack is witness to all kinds of opportunities where strangers are welcomed, from new student orientations to events with special guests who are only on campus for a few hours. \u201cThe warmth that\u2019s shown in the video doesn\u2019t just happen when we have a camera rolling. In addition to nearly 800 alumni living overseas, EMU holds a special place in the hearts of the 3,075 participants from 124 countries who have studied at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/cjp\/\">Center for Justice and Peacebuilding<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/cjp\/spi\">Summer Peacebuilding Institute<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The #YouAreWelcomeHere campaign began with Temple University in November 2016 to reassure prospective international students after Trump\u2019s election win that universities in the United States still welcome them.
