草莓社区 (EMU) is inviting prospective students to discover the educational opportunities available in their own back yard.

EMU is among 24 schools participating in the 219th annual Virginia Private College Week, July 27 – August 1, 2015, sponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia (CICV).

EMU is waiving the application fee for all visitors during this week. Additionally, to encourage students to visit various private colleges, those who visit at least three participating institutions during the week will receive three application fee waivers to apply to any three participating CICV colleges.

“We have had six straight years of undergraduate enrollment growth at EMU,” said Director of Admissions Jason Good. “Most of this growth has come from high caliber students right here in Virginia.”

EMU will offer a campus tour and information sessions about admissions, financial aid and academic programs, including a discussion of majors and minors and core curriculum. On Monday-Friday (July 27 – July 31), there will be a morning (9 a.m.) and afternoon (2 p.m.) session. On Saturday, Aug. 1, there will be a morning (9 a.m.) session only.

“Visiting campuses in person is one of the most important steps in the college search process,” explains Robert Lambeth, president of CICV. “I want to reassure [parents] that a quality education at a Virginia private college is affordable and within reach.”

CICV was founded in 1971 to promote the interests of nonprofit, independent higher education in Virginia. In 1972, the Council was also instrumental in starting the state’s Tuition Assistance Grant (TAG) program, which assists Virginia residents in attending accredited private, nonprofit colleges and universities in Virginia for other than religious training or theological education.

To register for Virginia Private College Week at EMU, go to emu.edu/vpcw or contact the Admissions Office at 1-800-368-2665 or admiss@emu.edu.

For more information about CICV and Virginia Private College Week, including a list of participating colleges and exceptions to this schedule, please visit www.vaprivatecolleges.org.

Registering for a visit
