The next day, they wore their blue and gold cords across their shoulders as they graduated.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">The students were cited for their \u201csignificant and verifiable impact\u201d on the university and on student life, for their contributions to developing EMU&#8217;s positive image, for substantial contributions to the Harrisonburg\/Rockingham County area and beyond, for their high academic and social standing, and for their embodiment of EMU\u2019s values of Christian discipleship, community, service and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/peacebuilding\/\">peacebuilding<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The blue cord represents the strength of conviction that one person can help to create a better institution or community. The gold cord represents the love of spirit and yearning towards creating a better university environment or community in which all may take part.<\/p>\n<p>The recipients were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Christine Baer<\/strong>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/applied-social-sciences\/peacebuilding\/\">peacebuilding &amp; development<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/applied-social-sciences\/environmental-sustainability\/\">environmental sustainability<\/a> major from Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aaron Erb<\/strong>, a peacebuilding &amp; development major from Harrisonburg, Virginia<\/li>\n<li><strong>Laura Glick<\/strong>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/applied-social-sciences\/social-work-major\/\">social work<\/a> major from Lancaster, Pennsylvania<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nicole Groff<\/strong>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/biology\/\">biology<\/a> major from Lancaster, Pennsylvania<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ardi Hermawan<\/strong>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/nursing\/\">nursing<\/a> major from Parsurvan, Indonesia<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rose Jantzi<\/strong>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/academics\/liberal-arts\/\">liberal arts<\/a> major with an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/education\/licensure-programs\/\">elementary education licensure<\/a> recipient from Harrisonburg, Virginia<\/li>\n<li><strong>Litza Laboriel<\/strong>, a social work major from Trujillo, Honduras<\/li>\n<li><strong>Krista Nyce<\/strong>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/psychology\/\">psychology<\/a> major from Harrisonburg, Virginia<\/li>\n<li><strong>Melody Tobin<\/strong>, a liberal arts major with an elementary education licensure from Harrisonburg, Virginia<\/li>\n<li><strong>Brandon Waggy<\/strong>, a peacebuilding and development and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/bible\/majors\/\">Biblical studies<\/a> major from South Bend, Indiana<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ten seniors from three states and two countries ceremonially received \u201cCords of Distinction\u201d on April 26, the highest honor conferred by 草莓社区 on traditional undergraduate.
