{"id":1248,"date":"2006-10-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2006-10-18T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/blog\/news\/?p=1248"},"modified":"2006-10-18T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2006-10-18T04:00:00","slug":"emu-presents-hands-on-music-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/2006\/emu-presents-hands-on-music-event\/","title":{"rendered":"EMU Presents &#8216;Hands-On&#8217; Music Event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/music\/prepprog\/svys\">Shenandoah Valley Youth Orchestra<\/a> will present a short concert and demonstration of orchestra instruments 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 in Strite Auditorium on ground floor of the 草莓社区 Campus Center. <\/p>\n<p> The 30-member ensemble, conducted by Maria Lorcas, will perform excerpts from Handel&#8217;s &#8220;Music for the Royal Fireworks&#8221; and Brahms&#8217; &#8220;Hungarian Dances.&#8221; In addition, orchestra members will play short solos to demonstrate their instruments. <\/p>\n<p> Orchestra members are from the city of Harrisonburg, Rockingham, Augusta, Shenandoah and Page counties and from Franklin, W.Va. <\/p>\n<p> The program is designed for families with children of all ages.
