Information System’s staff put the finishing touches on secure wired internet access to the press box at the Turf Field this week, opening the door for the addition of the outdoor webcasts. The Royals plan to stream three games each of men’s soccer, women’s soccer and field hockey this fall on a trial basis.

After first introducing the video webcasts of basketball and volleyball games during the 2010-11 athletic season, this gives EMU the ability to stream video at seven of the nine sports which host events on campus.

Another enhancement this fall has been the addition of commentators on the volleyball webcasts, adding a descriptive flair to the finished online product. Select EMU faculty and staff, as well as current students and alumni, will provide commentary for the volleyball, soccer and field hockey games. Basketball games are called by local legend Scott Lowe.

All of Eastern Mennonite’s webcasts continue to be free to view.

The following outdoor events are being scheduled for a video webcast this fall:

Men’s Soccer – Oct. 5 vs. Randolph and Oct. 26 vs. Randolph-Macon.
Women’s Soccer – Sept. 18 vs. Trinity (DC), Oct. 1 vs. Shenandoah and Oct. 5 vs. Emory & Henry.
Field Hockey – Sept. 25 vs. Washington and Lee, Oct. 5 vs. McDaniel and Oct. 23 vs. Shenandoah.

Links to the video webcast of an event are located directly on the sport’s schedule page, or at EMU’s video player, which is hosted by NMTV Sports at: . Live stats continue to be available for all of EMU’s home events.
