Nursing department adjunct instructor Pam Collins ’78, MSN ’13 was honored as 2017 Nurse of the Year in the category of case management. Collins is an integrative care manager at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, Va.

Donna Hahn ’78 was recognized in the category of nursing administration. She is vice president of acute care services and chief nurse executive at Sentara. Hahn, a registered nurse, holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and is credentialed as an advanced nursing executive (NEA-BC) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

The two were among 100 nurse finalists in 20 categories to attend the March of Dimes Gala Awards Nov. 9, 2017, in Richmond. The gala has an annual attendance of more than 400 guests, many of whom are corporate sponsors, business leaders and dignitaries.

Nurse of the Year is a statewide award that recognizes exceptional nurses, who are an integral part of the March of Dimes’ mission for stronger, healthier babies. Patients, co-workers, friends and family members can nominate nurses for the award. A selection committee chooses five finalists in each category and the winners are announced at the awards ceremony.
