Lucas was named to the All-Region Second Team last year and also has back-to-back All-ODAC First Team nods.

She batted a career high .452 this spring, a jump of 45 points from last year.  Lucas also notched career numbers with 42 hits, 22 runs, 21 RBIs and eight doubles despite playing in seven fewer games than either of her previous seasons.  The Royals had 10 games washed off the schedule due to inclement weather.

Lucas finished third in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with her batting clip, fourth with a .495 on-base percentage, and tenth with a .634 slugging percentage.  She also had a perfect fielding percentage from her position in right field, not making an error in 27 chances.  She was one of just five women in the ODAC to play only in the field and not commit an error.

Of the 45 all-region honorees in the Atlantic Region, which stretches from southern Pennsylvania to Alabama, only nine players from the ODAC were selected.  Lucas was one of two ODAC women named all-region who did not play in the NCAA Tournament, as seven of the nine played for national participants Virginia Wesleyan and Randolph-Macon.

Eastern Mennonite finished the 2015 season with a record of 16-14, charting the 11th consecutive campaign with a .500 or better record.

Allman Earns Spot On All-Region First Team /now/news/2013/allman-earns-spot-on-all-region-first-team/ Mon, 13 May 2013 14:43:05 +0000 http://emu.edu/now/news/?p=17022 Senior (Mt. Solon, VA/Fort Defiance) has added another first to her personal accolades – ²ÝÝ®ÉçÇø’s (EMU) first National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Atlantic Region First Team honor.

Allman also owns five program records and was named All-ODAC First Team earlier this spring. She is now eligible for All-America consideration by the NFCA. Only the 120 women on the eight regions’ First Teams are eligible for All-America.

Allman led EMU in nine offensive categories, including batting average, homeruns and RBIs.  She batted .422 in her final campaign, with eight homers and 46 RBIs, which tied a program record. Allman had 49 hits, including 11 doubles, to go with 17 walks for an impressive .507 on-base percentage. She struck out only 11 times and had a slugging percentage of .724.

On the conference level, Allman finished in the top ten in the ODAC in nine categories, including being fifth in homeruns, RBIs, total bases, walks and on-base percentage.

The infielder/designated player leaves the Lady Royals with records of: homeruns in season (9), RBIs in a season (46 – tied with Hall of Honor member Karla Alderfer), career homeruns (31), career RBIs (151) and career walks (52).

This is the second All-Region nod for Allman, who was named All-Region Second Team in 2012.  She was one of six ODAC women named to the First Team this year.

Eastern Mennonite finished the 2013 season with a record of 21-19, qualifying for the ODAC Tournament for the eighth consecutive season.

High-School Teammates and First-Year Softball Royals Earn Impressive Atlantic Region Honors /now/news/2011/high-school-teammates-and-first-year-softball-royals-earn-impressive-atlantic-region-honors/ Mon, 16 May 2011 12:32:33 +0000 http://emu.edu/now/news/?p=6857 For years they have been dominant forces on the softball diamonds on the east side of Rockingham County. This year high school teammates Molly Smith (Elkton, Va./Spotswood) and Brooke Hensley (Elkton, Va./Spotswood) stepped onto Gehman Field at ²ÝÝ®ÉçÇø and left equally strong impressions after just one season as as both were named to all-region teams.

Molly Smith (left) was named to the NFCA's All-Region Second Team, while Brooke Hensley (right) was named to the Third Team.

Smith, an outfielder/pitcher for the Lady Royals, was named National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region (Atlantic) Second Team. She was a leader for EMU in her freshman season, finishing with team highs of 40 RBIs, 14 doubles and 55 hits. Smith was one short of tying the program record for hits in a season, although she neared the records in each of the three categories.

In conference play, Smith got a hit in nearly every other at-bat and was named All-ODAC First Team. She came in with a .414 batting average on the season, which was second for EMU. Smith was also the Lady Royals’ number two pitcher, tallying an 8-6 record from the circle.

Hensley was named NFCA All-Region Third Team as she was a consistent force all season long, leading the team in hitting and anchoring them defensively. The shortstop topped EMU with a .441 batting average, which was also the third best mark in the ODAC. All the hits helped her finish second for EMU with both 31 runs and 31 RBIs.

Hensley also led the league’s shortstops in fielding percentage in ODAC play and committed just six errors all season in 139 chances. She was named the Lady Royals’ team MVP and took All-ODAC Second Team honors as well.

Eastern Mennonite went 14-4 in ODAC play this spring and earned the top seed in the postseason tournament. The women came up short in their bid for back-to-back ODAC titles, however, going 2-2 at the tourney and finishing with a 27-13 record overall.

The 27 wins was second most in program history behind the 30-13 team of 2008. It was also the fifth time in the past six seasons that the Lady Royals finished with 21 or more wins.
