In the early ’70s I chose that field at the University of Oklahoma but gerontology was not on the list so I had to design a new direction and fortunately found faculty who guided me to a nursing home in Oklahoma City. This led me to a position as a CEO of an area agency on aging when I moved to Virginia in 1977.
