Jennifer, you may want to save your congratulations on Lois’s retirement until next summer (or perhaps reiterate them then). Lois is still directing the historical library until July 1, 2014, and shows no signs of retiring at all! (Thanks for your compliment on the article.) — Bonnie

Lois, I can just hear my father saying something about being “as proud as a Mennonite is allowed to be” of your faithful tenure to EMU and your passion for books and history. May God bless your ongoing ministry.

It’s good to hear from you. Yes, I remember our “Park View Literary Society” or whatever we called it! If you ever get to Harrisonburg, I would love to take you to the cabin. We have made some changes in it.

I suspect my life will continue much as it has been after retirement. I probably will not work as many days in the library. I hope I live long enough to clean up my basement!

Thanks, Donna. I’m not comfortable with publicity. I hope it accomplishes something good!

I was so interested to read the article about your life and years at EMU. Do you remember the book club you led when a few of us girls met at your cabin and read Dr. Zhivago? Our lives also intertwined during the years you’re mother worked for my dad at Valley Books and I worked with her also. May your retirement years be full of joy and satisfaction. Lois Allen Lehman

I want to thank you for being a wonderful role model for me and for my daughters. You are one of the first examples of a professional woman that my girls knew. I also want to thank you for the way your love and friendship has made a difference in our lives, and for being Grandma Bowman.

Donna
