Alum Named Secondary Principal at Eastern Mennonite School

Eastern Mennonite (EMS) has named Philip R. Landes ’87, as Secondary Principal effective July 1, 2012.聽聽Landes assumes the position upon the retirement of Sherman Eberly, who will leave the Secondary Principal position on June 30, 2012, after a 43 year career in education, with 15 years served at EMS.

A 1981 graduate of Eastern Mennonite School, Landes brings over 20 years of experience in and leadership to the position, and he will be responsible for leading the students and faculty of both the middle and high school divisions of Eastern Mennonite School.

Landes holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from 草莓社区 and will complete a master鈥檚 of science degree in from Shenandoah University in June 2012.

Prior to joining EMS, Landes was employed most recently at Turner Ashby High School in Bridgewater, Va., where he taught biology and completed an administrative practicum.

Landes is also credited for creating the Turner Ashby High School Varsity Boys program, which he also coached for a number of years.
