Phil Grayson’s name was indeed not listed in the news release celebrating the dedication of Commons Phase II. It was impossible to name everyone. Phil’s contributions, however, were (and continue to be) many and deeply appreciated. His expertise, advise, generous gift of time and willing spirit helped to shape the new theater space at EMU in significant ways. EMU theater department chair Heidi Winters Vogel notes in the program notes of the recent EMU production of The Bus Stop, “A few people bear special mention…Phil Grayson, theater scenic designer and adjunct professor, who served as consultant on the renovation, we thank God you were there.”

You ended up getting a 5 million dollar building for half. Philip Grayson’s name is conspicuously missing from the list of responsible parties. Luckily there are some who know the more complete story.
