Prepare for licensure with a supportive professional learning community

Increasingly, diverse schools are facing a decline in traditionally-prepared teachers. The Teaching and Learning Graduate Certificate equips individuals who are motivated to enter the field of education by providing tools and training in effective and inclusive classroom teaching.

Through foundational curriculum and instruction courses, our program cultivates relationships, community, and a sense of belonging—equipping educators with the essential knowledge and skills to meet the diverse needs of their students. From addressing social and ethical issues in the classroom to supporting positive classroom behavior and human growth and development, these courses enable new teachers to serve confidently and lead in a global context while making a difference in their classroom.

Courses within this certificate can apply towards the Master of Arts in Education degree or serve as a standalone credential.

This certificate coursework aligns with the requirements of the Virginia Department of Education for provisional licensing.
