Dr. Kyle Remnant is the Director of Arts and Enrichment at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community, a post he has held since March 2025. Prior to VMRC, Kyle served as the full-time Director of Bands at EMU, leading the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and Rockin' Royals Pep Band. In his four years at EMU, he also taught courses in music fundamentals, music theory, music history, applied low brass lessons, senior seminars, and film music of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kyle now serves as the adjunct director of the EMU Wind Ensemble, a group that continues to grow in number and musicianship under his leadership.
As an active trombonist, Kyle has performed with the Roanoke Symphony, Charlottesville Symphony, Charlottesville Opera, Waynesboro Symphony, Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra, Middletown (OH) Symphony, Mr. Jefferson's Bones, and as a featured soloist with the JMU and Cincinnati Brass Bands as well as the EMU Orchestra. He has performance appearances at the American Trombone Workshop, Santa Fe Trombone Summit, the DC Trombone Workshop, and has been twice selected to perform at the Mid-Atlantic College Music Society Conferences. His solo album, First Impressions, includes nine previously unrecorded solos from the Paris Conservatory contest tradition. It is streaming on Spotify.
